WSA World Cup Soccer 2012

WSA World Cup Soccer is a summer recreational program designed for the player who enjoys the game of soccer. Team sizes are smaller so that all participants have an equal opportunity to play the game with less time sitting and more time being active.

The fields are structured to be age appropriate according the philosophy of the Webster Soccer Association.  Please be aware that age groups U5 - U10 that games will be played on small sided fields with small goals.  Goal size is approximately 5’x 3’ for this age group.  The U11/12 group will be using midsized goals with the approximate size of 7’ x 21’.  The U13 - U18 age groups will be using full size goals 8’x24’, but will be playing on shorten fields due to field space.

Please use the US Youth Soccer Age Matrix for placement on a team. By using the matrix below and your child’s birth month and year will dictate what age bracket he/she will be assigned to.

More Information

WSA will make every effort to accommodate your requests for carpooling.   All requests must be made in writing before May 21, 2012 (by either email or US Postal).

Teams and schedules will be posted on the website on or before June 10, 2012.

Uniform distribution will be during the first week.  All players must wear shin guards and bring water and a ball with them for all sessions.

The coach and players will use the first session to familiarize themselves with each other and pass out uniforms.  After that, each session will start with a warm up and drills with the game to start at 6:45 pm.  Referees will be used for U7 thru U18 games.  Coaches will monitor play during U5/6 games. Scores will be recorded for U11- U18 games only.  There are to be no coaches on the field in dealing with age groups U7-U18

Team and individual pictures will be taken on a game night at your game location.  Date and time to be announced.

Coaches – We are in need of coaches at every level, soccer experience is not mandatory but the willingness to have fun with children is.  WSA will try to assign two or three coaches per team.  Coaching instruction will be held preseason on Thrusday, June 2, 2011 at the WSA Indoor Complex from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.  If an adult cannot be found to coach a team WSA will assign a responsible high school student to coach any team that is in need of a coach.  Coaches will be required to sign a Code of Conduct and pass a Risk Management screening by NYSWYSA. Coaches will receive lesson plans and coach’s gear on June 2nd for the season.

Awards – all players U5 – U10 will receive participation awards.  Top two teams in each division U11- U18 will receive trophies.
